“What kind of taste?” the name is intriguing.
“Why Numata has this?”, surprisingly regular food.
“This definitely delicious”, local products which everyone convinced.
Numata’s specialty is rich in individuality. A rich lineup from traditional flavors to typical cheap food that most people enjoy, produced by the climate and the passion of the people.
I highly recommend from light foods to heavy meals. Only the person who ate knows this.

Tonkatsu
There is an area called “Joshu Numata Tonkatsu Highway” on National Route 120 connecting Numata and Nikko. Various form of tonkatsu dishes are served here such as set meal, don (rice serve in bowl), hamburger. It really is a place for group of katsu (cutlet).
Miso buns
A local Numata food that attract lots of regular customers from outside the city by its taste. The feature of the taste is the bread with plenty of miso. Once you eat, you will be obsessed.
Miso-manju (steamed bun)
It is made by add on a sweet and rich taste of miso sauce on top of the steamed bun that attached to a bamboo stick. It is a soul food in Gunma prefecture, especially in Numata where the aroma sharpens one’s appetite.
Edamamenchi bean
Numata’s local food developed by a local high school student.
The sweetness and crunchy texture of edamame inside the fried cake of minced meat that have lots of Tokusan’s edamame surely addicted.
Confectionery
Numerous of Japanese sweets nurtured by the tradition. Western confectionery that makes used of the local ingredients. All of these confectioneries are served with full-hearted by the Numata’s downtown people.
Local sake (Japanese alcohol)
Numata has two sake breweries, Nagai Honke and Otone Sake Brewery. Skillful Toji (master brewer) need to choose the right spot to nurture the famous kanzukuri (sake that made in winter) in order to brew a good sake taste for sake lovers.
Soba (buckwheat noodles)
Every year, Numata will be full of soba stores where “Amateur Soba-making Ranking Championship” are held.
Of course, there are lot of professional soba makers and famous stores are participating.
