Numata Castle is on a river terrace where the geographical feature are flat plateaus and steep cliffs emerge alternately.
It was an important castle for transportation, so the castle were aimed by the three great leaders, Sanada, Tokugawa and Hojo.
A fierce battle for contention eventually ended up with Sanada, a former retainer of Takeda.
However, there was family conflict in Sanada’s family where father and son become enemy.
There is a famous anecdote about Princess Komatsu, the wife of Sanada Nobuyuki, the castle’s lord, chased his father, Sanada Masayuki and his brother, Yukimura from meeting her children.
